The mission of Physical Education is to empower all students to sustain regular, lifelong physical activity as a foundation for a healthy, productive and fulfilling life.
Physical Education at Elkins Pointe Middle School is a sequential educational program. It is based on physical activities undertaken in an active, caring, supportive and nonthreatening atmosphere in which every student is challenged and successful. Students with disabilities are provided with a learning environment that is modified, when necessary, to allow for maximum participation.
We see physical education as one of the components of a well rounded formal education. The physical education curriculum is designed to educate the whole child both through physical movement, as well as by the teaching of physical movement. Through the teaching of physical movement, the student gains valuable knowledge, values, and skills. Students also gain a better understanding of themselves and their ability to function in society. The teaching of physical movement helps the student to develop motor skills, coordination, and healthy habits for life.
